Yeah, this woke me up at 1 a.m. It lasted for about thirty seconds and was the second strongest aftershock
since the quake. I did grab the bike helmet. Almost immediately aftewards a thunder and lightening show started. But it didn't rain. It was  a strange night.

Tonight (Sunday) CCTV, the main Chinese t.v. station, has a fundraising show playing, where stars give performances and a telephone number runs across the screen asking for donations. It's a lot like the the similar show after 9/11. Right now, they have soldiers from the frontline telling their stories of participating in the rescue.
Every so often the performances are interrupted by lines of people dropping envelopes of donations into
a box. Now, three kids from Beichun, teenagers, who were pulled out of the rubble, are brought onto the stage.

Needless to say, the entire nation is gripped by this. Again, if you want to get some sense of the national mood,
think of America right after 9/11.
